RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
Interview candidates and make recommendation to the mayor
BACKGROUND:
The following people have applied for two open positions on the Library Board, one position for 'in-city', one position for 'out of city':
In city:
Douglas DeHart - City Resident
Scott Edwards - Reapplying - City Resident
Michael Larrabee - City Resident
Rosa Walker - City Resident
Out of city:
David Goldberg - Non-Resident
Suzanne Jefferson - Reapplying - Non-Resident position
The candidates' applications are attached. Pursuant to City Recorder's guidelines, each candidate will be interviewed at the regular monthly meeting of the Library Board on November, 13, 2019. This will be the only item on the agenda. The Library Board members, using the form provided by the City Recorder, will recommend candidates to the Mayor in the order of preference for each position. Two sitting Library Board members are reapplying for their positions, so they will sit out the entire meeting. Larry Osborne, vice-chair, will preside. Staff at the meeting will be Denise Butcher, Library Operations Manager, and Patrick Foiles, HR Director. This is the only item on the November agenda. December's meeting will include statistics for November and December as well as discussion about the annual report to the City Commission.
All applicants were provided with the list of interview questions and the Library Strategic Plan prior to the interviews (attached).
