Title

Development Code Amendments Including Equitable Housing (Planning File LEG 18-00001): Height Limits within the Mixed Use Downtown District

Body

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):

Staff recommends that the City Commission support the Planning Commission recommendation to remove the 45-foot height limit for buildings within the Mixed Use Downtown District (but outside the Downtown Design District) within 100 feet, but not adjacent to existing residences.

BACKGROUND:

Currently the Mixed Use Downtown District (outside of the Downtown Design District) allows an overall building height limit of seventy-five feet with four exceptions which limit the maximum height to 58 feet or 45 feet. The purpose of this work session is to provide direction to staff identifying if any of the height limitations within the Mixed Use Downtown District should be amended.

Staff will prepare a complete package of all code amendments including the City Commission direction on shelters, food carts, height limits in the Mixed Use Downtown District, and follow up amendments and improvements.
