Title
Height Limits within the Mixed Use Downtown District
Body
RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
Staff recommends that the Planning Commission and City Commission discuss the issue and provide direction to staff.
BACKGROUND:
Currently the Mixed Use Downtown District allows an overall building height limit of seventy-five feet with four exceptions which limit the maximum height to 58 feet or 45 feet. The purpose of this work session is to comprehensively review the height limits in the Mixed Use Downtown District and provide direction to staff to inform potential amendments to the Oregon City Municipal Code (OCMC).
For discussion purposes Planning staff has prepared a presentation with maps indicating the various locations where the height limit is reduced, as well as a variety of photographs of the most familiar tall buildings around the city, and some simulation of what additional height of those buildings might look like. Please see attached memorandum and presentation.
This topic of discussion was continued from the code amendments review process in file LEG 18-00001.
