Title

Contract Amendment with OBEC Consulting Engineers for the Meyers Road Extension Project

Body

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):

Authorize the City Manager to execute Contract Amendment 1 with OBEC Consulting Engineers in the amount of $736,532.80 to provide Construction Administration/Construction Engineering & Inspection services for the Meyers Road Extension Project.

BACKGROUND:

In April 2017, the City hired OBEC Consulting Engineers to provide design services for the Meyers Road Extension Project. The project was identified in the City's Transportation System Plan (TSP) to provide a safe and multi-modal connection for motor vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians travelling along Meyers Road.  The design service contract was approved for $667,163.00 and we're on track to be just under the total contract amount.

On May 21, 2019, the bid opening was held for construction of the project. City staff and OBEC personnel reviewed the bids, and the City Commission awarded the contract for construction to Canby Excavating, Inc. on June 5, 2019. This contract amendment will authorize OBEC and their sub-consultants to provide construction administration/construction engineering & inspection services through completion of the project.  The construction phase service contract is $736,532.80 which includes full coverage for field and project administration, a $17,323.00 contingency option, and also assumes the full 14-month construction period.
