Title

Resolution No. 19-11, Approving the Fourth Amendment to the City Commission Rules of Procedure

Body

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):

Staff recommends approval of Resolution No. 19-11 approving the fourth amendment to the City Commission Rules of Procedure.

BACKGROUND:

The City Charter Chapter IV, Section 14 provides that the City Commission adopt rules for the governing of its members and proceedings. The Commission established Rules of Procedure in 2011 and amends them as needed.

There are two proposed amendments to the Rules of Procedure which are:

1. Adjusting the start time of Work Sessions from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This is located on page 4 in Section III - Types of Meetings, under C. Work Sessions.

2. Adding the following statement, "The Commission may allow testimony from the public at work sessions if agreed upon by a majority of the Commission present that the testimony will provide additional factual information, expert testimony or a professional opinion that will inform and educate the Commission about the work session topic" to Section III - Types of Meetings, under C. Work Sessions.

At the City Commission Work Session on April 9, 2019, the Commission discussed this change and now it is before the Commission for official approval.
