Willamette Falls Legacy Project Update

Body

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):

For information, staff will present the City Commission with information regarding the update of the Willamette Falls Legacy Project.

BACKGROUND:

After the Blue Heron paper mill closed in 2011, four government partners - Oregon City, Clackamas County, Metro and the State of Oregon - came together as the Willamette Falls Legacy Project to secure public access to Willamette Falls, which had been hidden behind the growth of industry in Oregon City for more than 150 years. A public vision has taken shape with the goal of transforming the 23-acre industrial site with economic redevelopment, historic and cultural interpretation, healthy habitat, and public access.  An update of the Willamette Falls Legacy Project will be provided in addition to the progress of related projects that support the success of the riverwalk.
