                     Attached you will find a handy resource page for the Planning Department that you can forward to your contacts or print out at a future Neighborhood Association meetings. Contact Christina if you want to pick up printed copies.

May is Preservation Month
To spotlight grassroots preservation efforts in America, the National Trust for Historic Preservation created Preservation Month to be celebrated in May.

Oregon City, joining hundreds of thousands of people throughout the country celebrating the places that are meaningful to them, has the following events planned:

                     Awarding the Ruth McBride Powers Preservation Award
May 1, 7 p.m. City Commission Meeting, City Hall, 625 Center Street

                     Archaeological Discoveries - New and Old**
May 30, 7 p.m., Midway Pub, 1003 7th Street, Oregon City
An Oregon Parks and Recreation Department archaeologist will provide an archaeological overview of some discoveries in Oregon and revisit a few known archaeological sites.

                     Municipal Elevator and McLoughlin Promenade Tours
Thursday, May 9, Time TBD
Saturday, May 11, 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Tours are limited to 20 per group.

In a Library not so far away…we’re celebrating Star Wars Day! Drop in for an evening of free activities, games, and prizes for kids of all ages. Costumes highly recommended.
The Library will be closing at 4 p.m. to set up for the program.



Singer Hill Stairway temporarily closed - Municipal Elevator hour extended
The Singer Hill Stairway (located at the base of the Municipal Elevator to Singer Hill Road) is temporarily closed due to rockfall that happened April 8.

Contractors are assessing the bluff to mitigate the possibility of future rockfall and damage. The stairway will remain closed until repairs are made and it is safe for public use.

Oregon City Municipal Elevator has extended hours:
Monday & Tuesday 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Wednesday through Saturday 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

 

Memorial Day Celebration
May 27, 10:00 a.m., Mt. View Cemetery, 500 Hilda Street
Please join us in our tribute to veterans and other public servants that have gone before us. This annual event will feature a guest speaker, a 21-gun salute and other military honors and floral tributes, Oregon City High School Junior ROTC, with music provided by local groups.

 

City Offices Closed for Memorial Day
The City of Oregon City will be closed Monday, May 27, 2019 in honor of the Memorial Day Holiday. Facilities such as Library, Pool, Pioneer Center, Utility Billing, Municipal Court and the Elevator will be closed.

 

ODOT 99E Tunnel Illumination Project
ODOT’s construction project to improve the lighting in the McLoughlin Boulevard vehicle and pedestrian tunnels and install a new variable message sign continues through early summer 2019. Travelers should expect nighttime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic and some daytime single lane closures on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
