RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
Staff recommends the City Commission approve Resolution No. 18-44, Certifying the Election Results for the November 6, 2018 General Election and accept the Canvass of Votes for Mayor, City Commissioner Positions No. 1 and 4, and ballot measure 3-539 as provided by Clackamas County Clerk - Elections Division.
BACKGROUND:
On Tuesday, November 6, 2018, Oregon City voters cast votes for Mayor, City Commissioner Positions No. 1 and 4, and ballot measure 3-539 . The Oregon City Charter of 1982, Chapter 6, Elections, Section 27, Canvass of Returns, states in part the following:
"...The results of all elections shall be entered into the record of the proceedings of the Commission. The entry shall state the total number of votes cast at the election, the votes cast for each person and for and against each proposition..."
On the December 5, 2018 City Commission agenda is the Canvass of Votes as prepared by the Office of the Clackamas County Clerk - Elections Division and which is on file with the City Recorder. The Canvass shows the following outcome of votes for the Mayor and City Commissioner races, along with the ballot measure.
