HRB Fence Policy Work Session

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
Discuss current fence policy and advise staff on potential updates and improvements to the policy. No changes will be adopted at this work session.
BACKGROUND:
The HRB Work Plan for 2018 includes updating HRB policies.
HRB Policies were first established in 1988 and gave staff the ability to approve alterations to historic resources if the policies were met. The policies are meant to provide clear direction to historic property owners who want to gain approval without going before the Historic Review Board.
The fence policy was adopted in 1988 and revised in 1991, and includes a list of acceptable fence materials and unacceptable fence materials. The Board may want to update the policy to add clarifications, to address new products that are now available, and to address issues that have arisen over the years.
Staff has provided a copy of the current fence policy, along with a presentation for Board review and discussion.
