PG 18-03 Preservation Grant, 810 Jefferson Street: Chimney Repair

Body

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion): Approval of PG 18-03, a $1000 grant to project for chimney repair on the Morris Holman House located at 810 Jefferson Street.

BACKGROUND:The Oregon City Historic Review Board’s renovation grant program makes funds available to property owners of Locally Designated historic buildings desiring to make exterior rehabilitation or renovation improvements; structural improvements to preserve the integrity of the structure may also qualify. The conditions of this program require that all improvements and projects be in keeping with the architectural integrity of the structure.

The applicant has requested a grant to pay a portion of the cost of rebuilding the top of the chimney and installing a roof cap vent to repair water damage. The home is a designated structure in the McLoughlin District known as the Morris Holman House. The historic inventory form for the property mentions the tapered stucco chimney as a prominent feature of the house.
