RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):

Authorize the City Manager to execute the contract for construction with Trench Line Excavation, Inc. for the High Street Waterline Replacement Project (CI 17-012).

 

BACKGROUND:

In January 2018, the City hired Murraysmith to provide design and construction administrative services for the High Street Waterline Replacement Project (CI 17-012). The project will replace existing water main, water services, water meters, and fire hydrants between South 2nd Street and 3rd Street. The existing water mains are approximately 100 years old and undersized for the current demand.  The new pipe between 1st Street and 3rd Street will also be upsized to a 12” pipe to accommodate the future redevelopment at the Mill site. In addition, a new Pressure Reducing Vault (PRV) will be installed at the west end of 3rd Street in place of the existing PRV.

 

In March 2018, the project was advertised and on April 17, 2018, the bid opening was held. Two bids were received. Staff and Murraysmith personnel reviewed the bids and determined that Trench Line Excavation, Inc. was the low responsive bidder (see bidders and bid amounts listed below).

Staff is requesting that City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Trench Line Excavation, Inc. in the amount of $1,399,000 for completion of the repairs on the High Street Waterline Replacement Project.
