BACKGROUND:

Statistics: In the ongoing quest to track and provide meaningful statistics, this month I've added several new statistics including:
-# of registered borrowers
-inside/outside of Oregon City by by residential location - number of people and number of items they checked out
-email newsletter recipients
-meeting room usage

In response to some of the questions we've discussed in the past regarding statistics, attached are all of the statistics which come to me in monthly, so that you can see what I see before some numbers are combined or not reported.

As shown, the statistics are generally good and still rising.

Sign: The new sign for the corner of John Adams and 7th is making progress. Additionally, we will be adding another sign to the park which will be an interpretive sign explaining the history of the park and the library. This will be partially funded by donations coming to the City in memorial of Carl Clapp, a huge library suporter who recently passed away. The parks department will be in charge of this project; Director Phil Lewis is planning on putting togeher a small committee to work on the design of the sign. It will be made up of someone from PRAC and someone from the Library Board. Since Nick Dierckman has worked on other sign design projects in the City I have invited him to represent the Library Board.

Collections: Many of the items ordered for the Adult area with the funds from the Foundation are coming in. In order to integrate Oversize materials, the Adult Services Librarian is moving lots of things around upstairs. There are now fewer shelves but they are fuller. Take a look. Youth items have not been ordered yet.

State librarian: As you heard, the State Librarian was dismissed from her position in March. It is not clear what her dismissal is based on. The Oregon Library Association will be included in the next hiring process, as their request...
