Presentation and Discussion.

 

BACKGROUND:

PGE is one of several utility franchises that operate in the City with special responsibility for maintenance of the electical power system througout the city. This responsibility includes maintenance, trimming, removal and replacement of trees that may pose a hazard to powerlines. Matt Vellella, Certified Arborist with PGE's Forestry Department in Oregon City, will provide information on PGE's tree management in the public right-of-way and within PGE easements. PGE is working with the City to:

•         Begin to review and submit suggestions on modifications to the Street Tree List

•         Streamline the removal process, especially for nuisance and hazard trees

•         Work together to preview planting permit applications

•         Research and submit more information on PGE’s legal rights to remove trees

•         Provide more information on Tree Growth Regulator (TGR) application near water and wetland sensitive sites

•         Provide a map of some areas of concern around the city
