Proclamation for Oregon City Arbor Day on Saturday, April 7, 2018

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
Reading of the Arbor Day Proclamation.
BACKGROUND:
The event will be focused on the McLoughlin Promenade located between the Oregon City Elevator and the VFW Hall and will include planting trees, bulbs, flowers, and spreading bark.
Volunteers who pre-register through the city website https://orcity.seamlessdocs.com/f/OCEarthDay receive a free t-shirt. Participants may also register on the day of event at 8:30 at the VFW Post, located 104 Tumwater Drive, Oregon City, Oregon 97045.
8:30 - Pre-Registration at VFW Hall
9:00 - Guest speaker, Arborist Brian French
10:00 - Tree planting and beautification
12:00 - Visit Educational Booths and have light refreshments
Please dress for the weather and bring tools for personal use during event: gloves, shovels, pruners, loppers, rakes, wheelbarrow, push brooms, etc. Snacks and refreshment will be provided throughout the day and sponsored by our local Fred Meyer. Each volunteer receives a raffle ticket upon registration for a drawing at noon. Must be present to win.
The 2018 Enhancement Day is sponsored by Oregon City Police Code Enforcement Division, Oregon City Parks Department, Oregon City Garbage, Buel's Impressions and Fred Meyer, Tree City USA, and Oregon Community Trees.
