Title

Oregon City Representation to Library District Advisory Committee

Body

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):

Approve Library Board recommendation to replace Library Board member Don Wright with Library Board member Nick Dierckman.

BACKGROUND:

About one year ago, a decision from the Board of County Commissioners required that representation from each Library City to the Library District Advisory Committee (LDAC) must be a citizen representative rather than a staff representative. At that point in time, Library Board member Don Wright volunteered to attend all LDAC meetings, was recommended by the Library Board for this position, and was ultimately approved by the City Commissioners and the Board of County Commissioners. Mr. Wright has served well. However, his term on the Library Board will be ending and one of the new Library Board members, Nick Dierckman, has shown a great deal of interest in representing the City and Library at these meetings. Mr. Dierckman attended an LDAC meeting to learn more and is willing to replace Mr. Wright on this committee.

The candidate must be approved by the City Commission and recommended up to the Board of County Commissioners, who will finalize the appointment.

Mr. Dierckman has a good grasp of the issues facing LDAC and will be a very good representative for Oregon City and Oregon City Library.
