RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
Staff recommends that the City Commission either reappoint Mike Mitchell to the Urban Renewal Commission (URC), for the term January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2021, or re-open the advertisement for this position.
BACKGROUND:
The Urban Renewal Commission (URC) consists of seven members. Five (5) are elected members of the City Commission and two (2) are at-large citizen members. The term of one of the current at-large citizen positions expired December 31, 2017. According to the Urban Renewal Commission by-laws, the City Commission appoints the two (2) at-large citizen member positions on the URC. The City Commission received one (1) application for the opening.
It is requested that the City Commission reappoint Mike Mitchell to the Urban Renewal Commission or re-open the advertisement for this position in order to possibly receive more applicants.
