Body

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):

No action is required of the Commission.

BACKGROUND:

Beginning in July 2012 the City conducted a variety of public engagement opportunities to revise the signage regulations to better meet the needs of Oregon City residents and businesses.  The code regulates the location, number and size of signs in Oregon City in a content neutral manner.  After a series of Planning Commission and City Commission hearings new signage standards were adopted in May of 2015 which became effective in November of the same year.  The amendments increased opportunities for signage as identified in Chapter 15.28 of the Oregon City Municipal Code (OCMC).

The City Commission recently heard concerns of sign limitations for tourism events as well as interest in adopting regulations to allow murals. The purpose of this work session is to discuss the signage regulations for the City of Oregon City related to tourism and murals.
