Title

Personal Services Agreement with Rebecca Schaleger for Prosecutor Services at the Oregon City Municipal Court

Body

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):

Authorize the City Manager to execute a Personal Services Agreement in the amount of $105,960 for a two-year period to provide prosecutor services for the Oregon City Municipal Court.

BACKGROUND:

The City contracts for prosecutorial services performed at the Oregon City Municipal Court.  The prosecutor has primary responsibility for the prosecution of criminal misdemeanors, major traffic violations and municipal code violations within City limits.

In July of 2013, the City issued a request for proposals for an ongoing prosecuting attorney contract, which had been held by the incumbent for eighteen years.  Rebecca Schaleger was selected from a field of qualified proposers.

The original contract was awarded for an annual cost of $49,800 with the option to renew every two years.  In considering the renewal, the Finance Department interviewed Police, Court and Code Enforcement staff and received feedback that Ms. Schaleger is performing effectively.

This contract represents an increase of $3,180 annually or 6% over the original contract (an average of 1.5% annual inflation over the four years).

BUDGET IMPACT:

Amount:  $105,960, $52,980/year

FY(s):  2017- 2019

Funding Source:  General Fund
