Natural Resources Committee Project Requests

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
No action by the City Commission is needed.
BACKGROUND:
The Natural Resources Committee submitted a request for two projects to the City Commission at the goal setting retreat earlier this year. The request included the following projects:
1. Installation of signage identifying streams that pass under or adjacent to major arterial, minor arterial and collector streets within the City.
2. Re-evaluate natural resources throughout the City and extend environmental protection around streams which are not currently subject to local regulations in the Natural Resource Overlay District. The Natural Resource Overlay District protects the water quality and habitats of streams and wetlands with vegetated corridors between sensitive resources and developed areas.
This work session will provide background on each of the project requests as well as suggested next steps.
