Title

Resolution No. 17-08, Supporting Clackamas Community College Industrial Technical Center Construction

Body

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):

Staff recommends the City Commission pass a Resolution supporting the construction of the Clackamas Community College Industrial Technical Center.

BACKGROUND:

The Industrial Technical Center (ITC) is one of five bond-funded projects at Clackamas Community College that will increase the skilled workforce in the community.  The ITC boasts more than 44,000 square feet and will expand facilities for students in manufacturing, renewable energy, machining and other in-demand career technical education programs.  It will also increase access to affordable education programs that allow for family-wage jobs and enable students to transfer to four-year universities.  The ITC will serve as a workforce training connection to businesses that locate in the Beavercreek Employment Area providing crucial business support and training resources.

As the April 6, 2017 ITC groundbreaking event approaches, the City Commission is asked to support jobs and workforce training in Oregon City by passing a Resolution supporting the construction of the Industrial Technical Center at Clackamas Community College.
