Title

Resolution No. 16-26, Supporting the Clackamas County Seven-year Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax

Body

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):

Staff recommends the City Commission approve the proposed resolution.

BACKGROUND:

At the August 3rd, 2016 City Commission meeting the Commission voted to approve an Intergovernmental Agreement with Clackamas County supporting the County wide seven-year motor vehicle fuel tax provided that all Cities within Clackamas County would receive funding regardless of if they approved an IGA with the County by September 1, 2016 or not.  Clackamas County Chair Ludlow sent a letter dated August 9, 2016 (attached) indicating that the County has removed the requirement for each City to approve an IGA or resolution in order to receive funding, should the November 2016 vote be successful. The proposed resolution would demonstrate the City Commission's support of the seven-year motor vehicle fuel tax proposal and the allocation of 40% of the revenues generated to all of the Cities within Clackamas County.  The 40% of the revenues generated that the Cities would receive will be allocated to each jurisdiction by population and used on transportation projects.
