RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
Staff recommends the City Commission accept the updated Canvass of Votes for ballot measure No. 3-479 provided by Clackamas County Clerk for the Election of May 17, 2016.
BACKGROUND:
On July 6, 2016 the Commission voted to accept the Canvas of Votes for the ballot measure No. 3-479, but it was not the updated hand count results. This is to correct that and present the updated Canvas of the Votes, which are:
Total number of votes cast for Oregon City measure:
Measure No. 3-479: 9,414
Measure No. 3-479 - Status Changes of Wesley Lynn Park; Allows Easement and Public Road:
Yes: 4,268
No: 4,274
On Tuesday, May 17, 2016, Oregon City voters cast votes for ballot measure No. 3-479. The Oregon City Charter of 1982, Chapter 6, Elections, Section 27, Canvass of Returns, states in part the following:
"...The results of all elections shall be entered into the record of the proceedings of the Commission. The entry shall state the total number of votes cast at the election, the votes cast for each person and for and against each proposition..."
On the July 20, 2016 City Commission agenda is the updated Canvass of Votes as prepared by the Office of the Clackamas County Clerk and which is on file with the City Recorder.
