Urban Renewal Commission Member Appointment

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
Staff recommends that the City Commission select a member for the Urban Renewal Commission (URC) for the term January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2019 from the group of candidates interviewed by the Commission on October 21, 2015 and November 4, 2015.
BACKGROUND:
The Urban Renewal Commission consists of seven members. Five (5) are elected members of the City Commission and two (2) are at-large citizen members. The term of one of the current at-large citizen positions will expire on December 31, 2015. According to the Urban Renewal Commission bylaws, the City Commission is charged with appointing the two (2) at-large citizen members to fill the URC positions. The City Commission has received three (3) applications for the one position from citizens and conducted interviews with those 3 candidates on October 21, 2015 and November 4, 2015.
It is requested that the City Commission select one at-large citizen member, by way of a ballot, for the URC to serve a four-year term respectively beginning January 1, 2016.
