Title
Oregon City Support for C800 Public Safety Community Bond
Body
RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
Staff recommends approval of C800 Public Safety Community Bond and authorize the City Manager to sign the letter of support.
BACKGROUND:
The C800 board controls/manages the radio communications infrastructure on which most police and fire agencies in Clackamas County communicate via radio. Chief Jim Band represents the City of Oregon City on this board.
On May 12, 2015, John Hartsock, technical adviser to the C800 board, made a presentation to the City Commission at a work session. The presentation included details about the aging communications system and the need to replace it. It also included information about a county-wide bond that is being proposed to pay for the replacement. The board's goal is to keep the cost of the bond at or below 10 cents per thousand of assessed value.
The attached letter would be sent to the board of Clackamas County Commissioners in support of the bond. The proposed system replacement plan was unilaterally approved by all involved agencies.
