BACKGROUND:
Since the last Library Board meeting, the Building Committee has met twice, a design overview was held at SEA's office with materials option samples, a mechanical overview was held at SEA's office with all appropriate engineers, a design meeting was held at the library to work on specific pinch points, the project received approval from the City Commission to move ahead into Construction Documents, a meeting with all of the technology players has taken place and the play equipment proposal was reviewed again with the McLoughlin Neighborhood Association.

A power point is attached which shows the latest iteration of layout. Since this was presented, small changes have been made to the program including:
-audio visual and other media will now be placed in the current reference room; the holds will also be placed in that room; therefore, the wall which was planned for this room will not be created and it will be more open to the foyer than previously planned
-the internets will move upstairs where the audio visual was going to be; the reservation computer will be on a new shelf on the side of the elevator
-the main service desk in the foyer will be separate from the childrens' service desk but within view; the main service desk will have good site lines into the av/holds area
We are still working on the circulation area which will potentially have a 3 or 5 bin automated materials handler.

The play equipment conversation is on-going. McLoughllin Neighborhood Association is firm in its desire for a steel swing set and slide. We proposed some more 'natural' equipment but they prefer steel and bark dust as the ground surface.
