Title
Oregon City Sign Code Update (Legislative Planning File: L 14-01)
Body
RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
No action is required by the City Commission at this time.
BACKGROUND:
After nearly 20 years without a significant change, Oregon City has been working to review our sign regulations to better meet the needs of Oregon City residents and businesses now and into the future. The Oregon City Municipal Code currently has limitations on the type, quantity, size, and material of signage allowed on public and private property in chapter 15.28.
A comprehensive public process resulted in draft amendments to the signage standards in chapter 15.28 of the Oregon City Municipal Code. The Planning Commission recommended the City Commission approve Planning file L 14-01, consisting of the October, 2014 draft signage standards with a few minor changes. This Work Session will provide an overview of the process in which the code was developed as well as the draft standards. A second Work Session is scheduled for March 10, 2015 to discuss enforcement, public education and funding of the new signage standards as well as associated resolutions. The next City Commission hearing is scheduled for April 1, 2015.
