Clackamas River Drive & Washington Street Speed Zone Study Request - UPDATE

BACKGROUND:
At its meeting on March 19, 2013, the TAC received testimony requesting a speed reduction on Clackamas River Drive. Because mention was also made of Washington Street and because The Jughandle project was recently completed, it was an opportune time to have the entire corridor reviewed.
City staff has submitted to the State Traffic Engineer at ODOT a Speed Zone Request for Washington Drive at 17th Street/Abernethy Road going northerly to Clackamas River Drive and continuing to the City limits. Attached is a copy of the speed zone request as well as Exhibit 1 which is a map showing the speed zones before The Jughandle construction began and Exhibit 2 is a suggestion by the City for what it would like the speed limits to be.
Time allowing, the State will perform an analysis and determine what the speed zones will be and will issue an official order to the City advising the City of its recommendations. The City anticipates this process will take several months as a result of limited State staff.
