Body
RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
Staff recommends the City Commission approve the first reading of Ordinance No. 12-1008 and, if the vote is unanimous, approve the second reading and final adoption of the ordinance, resulting in an immediate effective date.

BACKGROUND:
Local governments that wish to include an impartial, simple and understandable statement explaining an initiative or referendum approved for a ballot may do so only if an ordinance requiring the submission of such a statement has been approved by the governing body. The statement is limited to 500 words. The Oregon Administrative Rules No. 165-022-0040 provide this requirement.
