Title

Resolution No. 16-31 Supporting the Beavercreek Employment Area Marketing and Development Initiative

Body

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):

Adopt Resolution No. 16-31 supporting the Beavercreek Employment Area Marketing and Development Initiative.

BACKGROUND:

The Beavercreek Employment Area Marketing and Development Initiative concept began in 2014 as a result of a partnership formed between staff members of the City of Oregon City, Clackamas Community College and the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce.  Work to date has consisted of formulating a strategy around public outreach, creating goals and objectives, and developing an approach for implementation. The purpose of the Initiative is to attract targeted industry that can take advantage of the direct connections to education and workforce training that the Beavercreek Employment Area does and will provide.  Careful consideration has been given to the timing of the launch of the Initiative as to coincide with the ground breaking of Clackamas Community College's new facility, the Industrial Technical Center, in Spring of 2017.

At a regularly scheduled City Commission work session on October 11, 2016, the City Commission considered a presentation made the Beavercreek Employment Area Steering Committee about the Initiative and subsequently agreed to move forward to adopt a resolution supporting the effort.  The Resolution is attached to this report for the City Commission's consideration and approval.
