Resolution No. 15-32: A Resolution Declaring the City Commission's Intention of Appointing Another City Manager within Four Months

RECOMMENDED ACTION (Motion):
Staff recommends that the City Commission approve Resolution No. 15-32.
BACKGROUND:
The Oregon City Charter Chapter V - Powers and Duties of Officers, Section 21 - City Manager, subsection (b) - Term states as follows:
"The manager shall be appointed for an indefinite term and may be removed at the pleasure of the commission. Upon any vacancy occuring in the office of manager after the first appointment pursuant to this charter, the commission at its next meeting shall adopt a resolution of its intention to appoint another manager. Not later than four months after adopting the resolution, the commission shall appoint a manager to fill the vacancy."
The manager position for Oregon City became vacant on Friday, October 16th, 2015 and the October 21st, 2015 City Commission meeting is the next meeting after the vacancy occuring. Proposed Resolution No. 15-32 declares the City Commission's intent to appoint another City Manager within four months of adoption of this resolution consistent with the requirements of the Oregon City Charter.
